Weekend Recap

What a fun, fun, fun weekend!!! It was Girl's Trip weekend with my bestie, Kim and we thoroughly enjoyed out time together.

But first...Friday evening! Chris and I worked out and then we had dinner at Potter's Pizza for the first time. We weren't too crazy about it, and most likely won't be going back. The pizza was just ok, and it was dirty and rowdy with tons of little kids. Um, no. Then we relaxed at home and I finished watching the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance.

Saturday morning, I picked Kim up at 9:00 and we got on the road to Waco! It took a little over 3 hours, and we talked and laughed the whole way. Traveling with her is so fun and relaxing. Easy. When we arrived, we found a parking spot in the free parking lot right by Magnolia Market, and headed inside to discover this crazy phenomenon!

It was quite the place! There were about 10 or so food trucks offering up all kinds of delights...ice cream, hot dogs, BBQ, snow cones, kettle corn, gourmet grilled cheese and Mac and cheese, crepes, etc. After surveying the options, Kim and I chose the grilled cheese place, called Cheddar Box. Kim got Mac and cheese with bacon (hold the chives) and I went with the grilled cheese with gouda cheese, bacon jam, fried egg, all on French toast. It was so delicious! We found a spot to sit under the big pavilion, and enjoyed our lunch while watching the people play corn hold, catch, etc on the big green square of turf.

After we ate, we decided to start in the back corner, at the garden shop. It was a small building that sold garden tools, container, etc...and all around outside the building were gorgeous flower, pumpkin displays, etc. It was so pretty and we took a lot of photos! Then we made our way to the main shop, which was a huge two story building filled with Joanna's favorite things. She has a definite style...everything is pretty neutral, with some greenery thrown in. There were a lot of gorgeous displays, and people were buying things like crazy!!! We thought the pricing was a bit high, but we did manage to find a few souvenirs that we couldn't live without! I bought two little bowls, and a white mug with the back Magnolia Market logo. I didn't want to go overboard, since we are living tiny these days!

After our shopping, we decided to take the free trolley ride around the down town area to see what we could see. We stopped at a few different shops, and then headed back. Our final stop at Magnolia was their bakery...they are famous for their cupcakes!! So famous, in fact, that the line wrapped around the building and took us 45 minutes to get inside. Whew! We had no other plans, and wanted to get the full experience...so we didn't mind. We each got a variety of cupcakes and they were quite tasty indeed!! We split two different flavors so we could try them both!

From there, we checked into our hotel and then went to see a chick flick and have delicious buttered popcorn for dinner :) We saw Home Again with Reese Whitherspoon and it was good! We both enjoyed it!

Sunday, we slept in and had a lazy morning, then enjoyed breakfast at the hotel. Kim had a coupon for Joann's, so we stopped there for a few things before heading home. It was such a fun weekend. Love that we get to do these things together!

Chris was so good to stay home with the puppers and hold down the fort so that I could have a little girl time! He did multiple workouts, worked on the computer, and had dinner at Jojo's to visit with Aspen. It was a very relaxing weekend for him!

I'm happy to be home, and now to get ready for the week ahead. Chris has a lot of work dinners this week, so I am looking forward to not really cooking much at all. Yay!
