Tonight, we enjoyed a special treat...
The company that we worked for offered us tickets to the Jack Hanna appearance here in Abilene...tickets to the photo op, tickets to the reception beforehand, tickets to the dinner/talk/animal demonstration. What fun!
We arrived at the Civic Center in time to have our picture taken with him. He was such a nice guy...I do believe that this is the first real celebrity that I have shaken hands with! We got our picture snapped, and they'll be sending it to us in the mail. I hope it turned out good! Of course you'll see it once we have it! :)
We mingled with the people we knew from work, and then noticed that he was doing autographs...so I stood in line and got one made out to Aspen...she was thrilled!
We trickled down to the dining area and the food was actually pretty good...and then Jack spoke. He was funny and kooky and just a pleasure to watch. He had some good stories. He showed some animals from the Ft. Worth zoo...birds and cats and snakes and a penguin...the penguin was adorable! He showed a few clips, and they were quite heartwarming...him and his family watching the gorillas in their natural habitat, and after their designated hour with the gorillas, he said that seeing them with his family was such a thing to be cherished. He could die tomorrow and have lived a full life. And the clip about the rhino...that one brought tears to my eyes.
I'm so glad that we were able to attend...it was a nice evening out for the two of us, a relaxing departure from our norm. I hope you enjoyed your evening too!

That sounds like so much fun! Very nice you got free tickets to go...
So glad you had a chance to visit with Jack. I always try to catch him when he is on T.V. He always seems so genuine.
And a break from your norm was well deserved!
