I'm not sure how much I've mentioned about our new house situation...so I'm going to start from beginning and end with a sweet gift.
A coworker Alicia found out she and her military husband had orders to move to Arizona in November. At the time, it just seemed like sad news. But it ended up that she and I had entertwined lives and I didn't even realize it.
Through months of discussion and planning, it came to be that I would take over Alicia's job...a morphed version of her job that included other duties as well. So, I began to train a lot with Alicia, learning everything I could about her job.
But that isn't where it ends. She had told me that they were packing up to leave on November 14. When it came to be that we had sold our house, we found out that the buyers wanted to close on November 16. Which left us just about two weeks to get packed, find a rental, and move. Find a rental that would let us do a six month lease instead of a year lease, and that would let a dog in. Not an easy task. Then my brain started clicking, and I said to Chris, "We could rent Alicia's house." They had been trying to sell it with no luck, and I wondered if maybe they would be interested in renting it while they got settled in their new home.
So I went in to work and talked to her about it. And she agreed! So, not only was the rent a little less than we were wanting to pay, but she agreed to the six month lease and she was just fine with Ocho joining us. All with no move in deposit and no pet deposit. It was definitely a God thing working for us.
They moved out on the 14th, we moved in on the 15th, and we closed on the 16th. Check check check. Now I'm doing her job and living in her house!
Sometimes things work out in such an odd, perfect way.
To top it all off: when we arrived at the rental house with our first load of stuff, I found a big plastic bowl sitting on the counter with a card with "Baber Family" written on it. It was an incredibly sweet gift in many ways:
:: The big plastic bowl was clear, with pink and green polka dots!
:: There were tea bags and a big container of honey! (she knows I drink tea everyday and don't do sugar)
:: There was microwave popcorn!
:: There was hot chocolate!
:: The were even dog treats for Ocho!
:: And best of all, a DVD of "Flashdance"! She and I were both children of the 80s and love those movies!
It really just made me smile!!! Such thoughtfulness!!!
I have to wonder why our lives were entermingled so tightly...makes for interesting stuff...

I love that...she sounds great and how wonderful that things worked out so perfectly for all of you. :) Moving is a pain (as I know too well) and when things like this fall into place to make the process easier and less stressful it is a fabulous gift.
I do believe things happen for a reason - this just goes to show you it does!
