I wanted to share some photos from our dance event last night! The Trophy Ball was fun...there were probably 40 - 50 people there, at all levels of the dance spectrum. Quite a few were graduating from one level to the next, and then there were also quite a few beginners like us. Some of the couples had been taking dance lessons for 18 years!!!!
The event was structured like this: general dancing; then beginners; then general dancing; then we went through all the levels in order. The highest level did solo dances. It was fun to see! And then our instructor Sophia and her husband (also an instructor) did performances of the tango and the rumba, in costume. That was really impressive!!!
Chris and I were fairly nervous before taking the floor! It was us and two other couples on the floor together, which meant a lot of space and lots of eyes on us! But we did just fine I think!! We did the basic step, the promanade, and the cortez...it was a two minute song, and felt very very long!! :)
The other couples above -- one is Dawson and Rhea, who was in the dance group with us. The other is my boss Jeff and his wife. They have been taking private lessons for a few months. The group shot is of our group, except the couple on the left. That is Jeff and Diane. They take private lessons, but we've become friends with them. The couple on the right is Tom and Angie, from our group. We have another couple that was a part of our group of four, but they were not able to attend the event.
As I mentioned, we'll be taking a break from the dance lessons for a bit...until we think we can add in the cost of the private lessons. I will miss dancing, as it is something I have always really enjoyed. And I have loved dancing and learning with Chris! So we shall see what the future holds...
