Aspen spent the night with a friend Friday evening, and proceeded to spend all of Saturday with her too. We took advantage of that and fit the Ft. Worth trip in without her evening knowing. I went to the crop from 10 - 1:30, and then headed home so we could leave at 2:00. We drove there, test drove the car, went through the process of buying it, and then got back on the road to home. On the way, we stopped at Neeley's house in Clyde, and he had supper ready for us! What a guy!! We enjoyed a nice dinner and wine with him and Lauren, and then determined what our plan would be.
Today, Sunday, we went to church. Afterwards, Chris headed home while Aspen and I went to the grocery store. While we were there, Neeley drove the car from his house to ours (he lives about 30 minutes away), and they parked it in the driveway and put a big red bow on it. As Aspen and I drove through our neighborhood and neared our house, she noticed something in the driveway. "Who's at our house?" I told her Neeley. "That's not Neeley's car." We pulled into the driveway and she turned and looked at me and said, "If that car is for me I am going to freak out!!" I just shrugged and smiled. Then she saw Chris standing there with the camera, Neeley there with the video camera, and Mimi, all waiting for us. And she just burst into tears! She jumped out of the car and gave Chris a huge hug, then me, then everyone!! And then proceed to investigate the car.
It's a 2008 with over 100,000 miles. We were able to get a warranty though that covers engine and transmission for another 100,000. There is normal wear and tear on the exterior and interior, nothing major. It's really a nice little car. Way nicer than my first TWO cars! :) She won't be getting her license for a little while longer, due to her bad grades last year. And she still has some driving time to log, day and night time hours. But, she can now be practicing in this car, so when she takes her test she will be very comfortable in it.
It was an exciting day! We were happy to be able to give her this. She kept saying, "I honestly didn't think you guys were going to buy me a car...and not only did you buy me one, you bought me my dream car!!"
Everyone has their "first car" story -- I'd love to hear yours :) Leave a comment!
