books and other such things

:: Today I took Aspen to an appointment, and while I waited, I was able to finish my book. I thought it was a pretty good story, really. And well written. Afterwards, I read about the author at the end, and she was the woman who wrote Pay It Forward, which they based the movie on. Interesting! The moral of the book was about unconditional love, consistent love, and never giving up on someone. No matter what. The main character was inspirational in that he was able to be a strong constant offering that kind of love.

:: Next I am planning to read the 7 book series about Narnia by C.S. Lewis...started the first one this evening. Anybody read this series???

:: Made salisbury steak, mashed potatoes and yankee corn for dinner. It's been a fantastic dinner week :) Tomorrow we are having crockpot lasagna. I must say, I have outdone myself this week! The enchiladas were even quite yummy today, leftover. Mmm!

:: Really enjoyed zumba this evening -- it was just me and Vanessa, but we sweated it out together! Fun! Aspen came and worked out in the gym, and even wrapped up with us, on our last song and cool down.

:: School starts here in a week and a half...crazy that this summer is almost over. It went incredibly fast. Even crazier that Aspen will be starting her senior year. Need to finish up school clothes shopping...

:: Aspen's first pay day is this Friday! She has been working a lot, so she'll be excited I am sure.

:: That's about all I have for a Wednesday evening...

What is Yankee Corn?

Yankee Corn - frozen corn, cream cheese block, can of green chiles, and Lowry's season salt. Microwave for about 10 minutes, stirring halfway through. That's it, but so good!
