a good day

Finally Friday! Yay!

:: Broke down and went to the doctor today...yep...my cold turned into a sinus infection. My sinuses are so messed up, it never fails. Once it's in there, I have to take meds to get it out...got a big ole shot in my hip, some nasal spray, antibiotics, and a decongestant. I should be a new woman by the end of the weekend...

:: Aspen managed to redeem herself...she pulled the "C" that she had on her progress report up, and came home with a report card today that had all "A"s and one "B" on it...whew...

:: Aspen was very disappointed though, because they were supposed to find out today if they made the DI team, and they said today that they'll instead by announcing the winners on Monday. Hello! Why are you going to do that to a bunch of 10 year olds?? Get them all excited, then make them wait???

:: I have to brag on my dog, ya'll...I love him to pieces, more everyday!! And I'm so proud of him. He's not really pottying in the house anymore (as long as we are diligent with when we take him out), he's sleeping through the night like a champ, he entertains himself well, and most of all, he is ROCKING his walks! Per Cesar, I've been having him wait until I walk out the door first...then I am very diligent, consistent, and serious about our walks. He stays right beside me. Doesn't pull ahead. Looks up to me to see which way we're going at turns. Every now and then, he'll speed up a bit and pull ahead, and I use a technique that Cesar mentioned. Making a sharp fast "chhh" sound while gently tugging him back. Today I realized that when I just make the sound by itself, he slows down. No tugging necessary! This makes me so so happy!

:: I had an encouraging day at work today...it started off with an email from my former boss. She said she wanted me to take a pause out of my crazy hectic life, and proceeded to tell me wonderful things about myself. Kind of caught me off-guard, but really felt good! A little later, my new boss complimented me on the newsletter I just finished up. Praise isn't always a common thing when we all get so busy and wrapped up in what's going on...so I got a little boost from his words. Then, at our employee luncheon, I was surprised to receive a Performance Plus award from my co-worker Laura. It was even more of a surprise, since I am the one that prints the awards out each month...so there was some sneaking around going on! I was embarrassed standing up there while she praised me, but the $50 sure is nice! :) (The Performance Plus awards are set up like this: every employee in the company has $100 to give away every year. They can give one $100 award or two $50 awards. They are supposed to go to someone you think is going above and beyond their job description, etc.)

:: Tonight is the Balloon Fest Glow...I do hope we can get some good pictures!!! Have a great weekend everyone!

Thoughts on your thoughts:

:: So happy you went to the doc ~ sinus is just a bummer!

:: Gotta love Ocho and his accomplishments.

:: What a great day at work for you and what a well deserved award and what a neat program.

:: So hope you have an actual balloon fest. Maisie told me with ours that I missed (for good reason!), the bunny did not even make it ~ Energizer Bunny which always starts the race. This year ours was a dud with the wind too ~ so hopefully our normal good luck with the race comes your way!

Yeah for Aspen bringing up that "C" to a "B"! Goo Girl!

Congratulations on the Performance Plus Award! how exciting. I'm glad that Laura awarded you with it. I don't work with you, but just knowing how you take care of other things I am certain that you deserve this award like no other! Congratulations again!
