packed weekend

Hope you all had a great weekend! Ours was jam packed. Still no rest for the weary, but the house is coming together so nicely. Seems like the list of things to do and buy is never ending though.

:: Friday, after work, I took Aspen to her job at the concession stand. Then Chris and I had a quick dinner at Taco Bell before heading to Lowes for stakes, temporary fencing material, and about 20 squares of sod. We picked Aspen up at 9:30 and then headed home to install a squared off fenced area right off the back porch for the doggies. We determined that we didn't buy enough stakes and the walls of the fence were sagging, but it was a good start. Another trip to Lowes was needed.

:: Saturday, Poppy let us sleep until about 7:50. I got up and went to the monthly crop to spend a few hours with the girls. I didn't take anything to work on, and really just enjoyed chatting with everyone and taking a little break from all the hub bub. After a delicious lunch with them, I headed home. Chris was working on assembling our new dining room chairs, and I took Aspen to her 2:30 Saturday tournament shift at the concession stand. Then I came home and worked on unpacking my scrapbook room stuff. Box after box after box...I have so much stuff. I was able to make great progress though, and it is all done now! I absolutely love it and love having my very own space to create. We picked Aspen up at 6:30 and headed to Famous Dave's for dinner. Then yes, back to Lowes for the additional posts. Chris was able to finish off the fence that evening and it looks great. The dogs are happy, they are able to run free without a leash now.

:: On Sunday, Poppy let us sleep until 8:45!!! Oh glorious day!! After church, we went grocery shopping and then BACK to Lowes...three times in one weekend. Whew, that was really stretching me! Today we purchased our blinds! They cut them down to size right there for us. Then we came home to Neeley sitting in our driveway. And on his trailer was my handmade scrapbook table that he's been working on!!!!! So very exciting! He brought it inside in pieces, because it was too large to fit in the door!!! :) It looks beautiful, it is just what I wanted. I could not be happier! The only thing left is to purchase a big piece of glass for the top...will try to do that this week. Have a few more things to hang up in the scrapbook room, but otherwise it is a done deal and I love it.

:: When uploading photos of my table, I saw a few other pics to share here. And also see that I haven't posted about my birthday. (Since I was sick, it felt sort of like a non-birthday this year...I was lost in a fever!!). I will try to post sometime this week though, so I have documentation.

This is the gorgeous teal glass bowl that my mom gave to me for my birthday this year! It is huge, from Crate and Barrell. It is sitting on the bar of our kitchen, and the color makes me very happy. While in Maui, Chris enjoyed finding loose coral in the ocean, and we came back with quite a large batch of it. We decided that it would look perfect in the bowl...

Our new bedroom has loads of big windows, and the light we get in there during the day is gorgeous. And that light makes two chihuahuas very happy. Poppy is really realizing the beauty of a sunbeam...

She is 5 months old now, and is settling into our home. She is calming down in some ways, but is still crazy in other ways and has her spells of wildness. She and Ocho are learning to play pretty well together. She has lightened him up a little and he is enjoying the play time. She is a very affectionate dog, which I love.

And now, the table!!! The table of all tables!! Here it is inside the room, as they were working to assemble it.

Neeley and Chris in action...

And the finished product!!!

I will try to post a picture of it with the cubbies filled in. And also, after I get the piece of glass for the top, I plan to put photos underneath it. So a final photo to come after that...

We had a good weekend...just super busy. Another work week ahead, but then a three-day weekend!! Looking very forward to that. I know we can fill every second! :)
