mom's visit and catching up (+ june date night!)

My mom is here!!! Finally! Seems like we've been waiting for her to arrive for months now :) I took Tuesday morning off, and then picked her up at the airport at 1:00. Her flight ended up being right on time, even though she had a few hiccups along the way. It is soooo good to see her!!

We packed her one suitcase into the car and headed to the office...she wanted to see our renovations, see Chris, and see the people in my department. We picked up Subway on the way, and ate lunch with Chris in our work cafe. That was fun! She was able to meet some new people, and enjoyed seeing the renovations. From there, we headed to the house. Relaxed and talked while she unpacked...chatted with Aspen and Mimi...then had a nice dinner together and watched The Voice finale...a very good day!

Now I am letting her sleep as long as she wants...she needs it. I was wide awake this morning at 6:15, then got up at 7:15 when Chris got up for work. Chatted with him while he got ready, and then went for a walk/run after he left. Now I want to catch up on a few things I've been meaning to blog!

First, I just wanted to post a current photo of our house...our sod is looking quite nice finally, green and lush! It's exciting to see it come together...

The next batch of photos are from a ride/run Chris and I did a few Saturdays ago. We rode up The Beast, which is the small mountain (large hill) behind our house. There are some wonderful views from the top, but let me say it was hell riding up and down!!! I believe this was a 12 mile excursion...

And finally, our June Date Night!! Which actually turned out to be a June Date Day! :) It was very enjoyable indeed! We started off at the Buffalo Gap Flea Market...we walked and browsed, and there was even a little bit of sprinkling rain for a few minutes. We stopped by and talked with the breeder that sold us Poppy...she is a sweet lady, and she really enjoyed hearing stories about our sweet girl. We even showed her some photos! We didn't buy much -- just a few loaves of homemade bread. One jalapeno bread and one raisen bread...from there, we headed down the street just a bit to Deutschlander for a catfish lunch. Yum yum!!! The rest of our day was spent running errands here and there...buying plants, looking for new rugs, etc. It was fun shopping around with my man! Finished off with dinner at Outback (buy one get one coupon, woot woot!) and headed home. A fun, full day!!

Best catfish you'll ever eat!
Me and my hot date! Love this man!!!
We also went to a nursery and bought Chris some new plants for our yard, for Father's Day! We had fun looking around and deciding what to buy. This little guy was just an extra treat...
Okay, I think I am caught up now!!!! I will be posting more about my mom's visit as we go. She is making great strides of progress with our Poppy!!! It is amazing to see :)
