Hi everyone -- another weekend is drawing to a close....I hope that you enjoyed yours! Ours was good.
Friday evening, Aspen worked...Chris and I decided to have dinner at Olive Garden so we could see her in action! She is a natural for the job, for sure...her bubbly personality fit right in, and handled the customers very well. We are proud of her! While we ate, her supervisor even came over to our table and told us that she really enjoys Aspen, that she is a hard worker and that she is doing really well! That was so nice to hear, and Aspen was with her so she was able to feel that "pat on the back" too!
Saturday, Chris and Neeley worked on the shop...they are now working on the railing that goes along all the staircase. The angles and such were throwing them off, so it was a bit of a frustrating weekend for them. But they have it going now! Aspen worked again, and I did a few errands, watched SYTYCD, etc. Then she and I went shopping to get her a few things for work -- two black shirts, a black belt and some black socks. It was also tax free weekend, so we did a little school clothes shopping as well. She was able to find quite a few things, and now we'll just have to finish up in the next few weeks. Once the boys finished working, Chris, Aspen and I had a late dinner at IHOP...the service there is always so slow and very unfriendly, but if you go into it knowing that, it isn't too bad :) We had a gift card, so we were willing to look past a few things. We ate way too much, and it was yummy! Then we did the grocery shopping and called it a night. Our working girl was pooped out and fell asleep in the car on the way home!
Sunday, we enjoyed church. We went to the new church again and we are really liking it there. We are hoping to get Aspen plugged into the youth group there...I'll be emailing the youth pastor this week for details. After church, we ate some lunch at home. Then Chris and Neeley were back at it on the shop, Aspen mowed the yard, and I did some cleaning/laundry. Then Aspen was off to work for another shift! Hopefully her paycheck will be nice :) We had to explain to her the dreaded uncle that everyone hates...she wasn't too fond of that whole concept!
So that was our weekend in a nutshell...and a new week about to begin. We enjoyed casual days all last week, which was so nice in this 100 degree heat. But we are back to professional dress this week, and have more VIPs coming in. Back to the normal grind...
I wanted to share a few photos from my phone :) This first one is of our new metal cactus!
This spot is right outside of our garage...we have one of these on both sides of the garage. This area gets intense sun all day long, but in the evenings when the sun sets it is incredibly hot there. Everything we have tried to plant dies pretty quickly, but we really like the pots there. These metal cacti are the perfect solution, I love them!!
And here is Aspen, the Olive Garden hostess...the first photo is of her in her uniform before her first day of training...all black from head to toe. She is able to wear colorful jewelry, so she tries to get color in where she can!
And here she is at her hostess stand, while we were waiting for our table Friday evening...(ignore the blurry girl, ha!) It took quite a few shots for me to even get this one, and I finally just told her I would not stop until she let me get a decent one. So I finally got a smile! :)
First job...what was YOURS??
Mine was at McDonalds...I worked the front registers, made the biscuits and salads on weekend mornings, and eventually became the drive thru queen. I had to wear a visor, and my shoes were always covered in grease. Ah, the fast food life...

Love the cactus & the OG girl! PTS
Jake's first job was at McDonald's, too. Mine was a counselor at a Boys and Girls Club camp. :)
